Carole Demas and Paula Janis

Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) and Cinema Arts Centre (CAC) present Carole and Paula in a special benefit performance, Live and on Screen!! Honorary LIMHoF Education Board Members Carole Demas and Paula Janis will bring “Carole and Paula of TV’s The Magic Garden” to the Cinema Arts Centre for two shows on Sunday March 21, 2010, at 12:30PM and 3:30PM (423 Park Avenue, Huntington NY, tickets $9 for children, $18 for adults, $13 for members of either CAC or LIMHoF). All proceeds from both shows will benefit both CAC and LIMHoF.

Carole and Paula will perform favorite songs and stories with Musical Director Ian Herman. They will join moderator and LIMHoF vice-chair Tom Needham in a lively discussion of the program’s fascinating history and ongoing popularity. Each show will also include questions from the audience, a meet and greet, photo ops, and autograph signing. DVDs, CDs and photos will be available for sale.

The presentation will feature on-screen clips of original episodes of The Magic Garden, some have not been seen anywhere for almost 30 years! This is a rare performance sure to delight the whole family! The Magic Garden aired from 1972-1984 on WPIX-TV NY and affiliated stations, becoming the most successful regional show in the history of children’s television.

Friends since their high school days in Brooklyn, NY, Carole and Paula’s careers have been long and varied. They were teachers together in the NYC school system, sang for the NY Shakespeare Festival for several summers, and formed their own company, CAP Productions, Inc. in 1978. Carole is known for her critically acclaimed creation of the leading role of Sandy in Broadway’s original Grease and has starred in thousands of performances for theatre and television. Paula and her guitar have traveled country wide, bringing folk music classics everywhere from Greenwich Village coffee houses to classrooms and Carnegie Hall. VH1’s “Foxy Ladies of 1973” are truly timeless treasures!
