Brooklyn
Embarking upon an expedition of Long Island, it becomes apparent that this a rich and fertile vein of rock history. Everyone knows the part that Brooklyn and Queens played in rock history. One cannot discuss Doo-Wop or Girl Groups or The Brill Building without mentioning them. From Eddie Cantor on, Brooklyn was a bed of burgeoning talent waiting to catch the subway into town.
Brooklyn spawned:
The Crests
The Tokens
The Impalas
Little Anthony and The Imperials
The Strangeloves
Santo and Johnny
The CrystalsAlso
- The Persuasions
- The Jive Five
and- Jay And The Americans.
Most of these groups performed at The Paramount or The Fox on the same stages that once ensconced a skinny crooner surnamed Sinatra.
