Debbie Gibson

Pop | 2014

More than 30 years ago, music prodigy Debbie Gibson, “the original pop princess,” exploded on the Billboard pop charts with the self-penned “Only in my Dreams.” She attended high school in Merrick, Long Island, and often participated in community theater productions and talent contests. At the tender age of 16, she became the youngest person ever to write, produce and perform a No. 1 hit song “Foolish Beat”—a record she still holds today in the Guinness Book of World Records. To date, Gibson has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide and has also gone on to have a successful career in musical theater, including a stint on Broadway and in the London West End, where she broke box office records as “Sandy” in the production of Grease. http://debbiegibsonofficial.com.
