The criteria for election and induction to the Long Island Music Hall of Fame is, "An artist or group that was either born on Long Island or has resided on Long Island for a significant portion of their career."

These artists must have been born or reside(d) in Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Nassau or Suffolk Counties.

Selections for induction are made periodically by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
