Long Island Music Hall Of Fame Honors Founders of Huntington's Inter-Media Art Center With Long Island Sound Award

Presentation at February 18 Mountain Concert

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame will be honoring Michael Rothbard and Kathie Bodily, Founders and Directors of Huntington's Inter-Media Art Center (IMAC) theater with the Long Island Sound Award (LISA) on Saturday, February 18 immediately prior to an 8 PM concert by Mountain at the theater - 370 New York Avenue in Huntington.

This award is being presented in recognition of Mr. Rothbard, Ms. Bodily and IMAC's more than 30 years of service to the Long Island arts community, including their ongoing arts advocacy, concert series, multi-media work, visual arts presentations and extensive educational programs.

IMAC began its existence in Huntington in 1974, moved for several years to Bayville and then in 1983 relocated back to Huntington, this time occupying the balcony space of an abandoned vintage theater. Currently, IMAC is located in an old movie palace that has been converted into a charming intimate concert hall and performing arts center. IMAC has become a strong presenter, committed to the Long Island community and recognized nationally for its unique programming. Newsday has called IMAC..."Best Concert Venue" on Long Island. Visit their website at http://www.imactheater.org.

Previous recipients of the LISA include such legendary performers and Long Islanders as Melanie, Eddie Money, Blue Oyster Cult, Dee Snider, Billy Cobham, Gary U.S. Bonds, Pat Benatar, Neil Geraldo, Sam Taylor, Twisted Sister, Arlo Guthrie and Mountain's Leslie West.

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHOF) is a 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island's musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization, which defines Long Island geographically rather than politically, as Brooklyn to Montauk Point, was created as a place to inspire in each person the desire to explore and celebrate music in all its forms and to be a place where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aid them in that exploration. LIMHOF sponsors the Long Island Sound Award, traveling educational exhibits and is working to create a permanent home for the story of Long Island's musical heritage.

They will be presenting the first Annual LIMHOF Induction Gala on October 15, 2006 at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, 71 East Main Street in Patchogue.
