Deborah Gibson to Receive Long Island Sound (LISA) Award

Award Presented by Long Island Music Hall of Fame on October 6 at Chapin Rainbow Stage in Huntington

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame will present their Long Island Sound (LISA) Award to singer-songwriter Deborah Gibson at her concert on Saturday, October 6, at the Harry Chapin Rainbow Stage in Hecksher Park, Main Street in Huntington, New York.

The Long Island Sound Award recognizes those who have made a significant contribution to Long Island's musical landscape. Previous Long Island Sound Award recipients include Lindenhurst's Pat Benatar, Brooklyn's Arlo Guthrie, The American Chamber Ensemble of Hofstra University, electronic music pioneer Herbert Deutsch of Massapequa Park and a posthumous award presented to Harry Chapin's widow, Sandy.

Deborah Ann Gibson was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Merrick. The "Original Pop Princess" Deborah exploded on to the pop music scene at the age of 16. An entertainment prodigy, Deborah became the youngest person ever to write, produce, and perform the number one single, "Foolish Beat", a record she holds to this day in the Guinness Book of World Records. Deborah's many impressive career achievements include her album Electric Youth which soared to #1 on the pop charts and her #1 hit single "Lost In Your Eyes". Over the past decade and a half, Deborah has had many album releases to both critical, and popular success including 1990's Anything is Possible, 1993's Body Mind Soul, 1995's Think With Your Heart, 1997's Deborah, and 2001's "M.Y.O.B.", and her most recent release, 2003's Colored Lights. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame presents their Second Annual Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Gala on October 21, 2007 at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College CUNY, in Flushing, Queens. Tickets are now on sale.
