Hall of Fame Founder and Board Chair Richard L'Hommedieu said this of the first April 17 podcast, "The success of this workshop illustrates the need within the Long Island music community for information and education. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame plans to continue and expand its musicians' workshop program as a means to educate and provide the leadership necessary for our music community to continue to grow and thrive."
The first of two workshops at the April 17 seminar, Music Marketing in the Digital Age, was moderated by Richard L'Hommedieu. The panel included Beth Krakower of New York City's CineMedia Productions and the LIMHoF Educational Advisory Board, Dorothy Hui from the Digital Platforms Group of New York City's Wind-Up Records, Jeffrey James of Jeffrey James Arts Consulting in Farmingdale, Jeremy Meyers from Sony/BMG in Manhattan and Daylle Deanna Schwarz of Revenge Productions in Manhattan. The group discussed the current and future state of musicians marketing themselves through existing and future digital technology.
The April 17 workshops, which were presented free of charge to the public, were attended by a large group of independent Long Island musicians from all genres of music, including songwriters, hip-hop and rock bands. Feedback from the attendees included comments such as, "I found it to be quite informative!" and "A great workshop, and an excellent panel. MORE! MORE! MORE!" The other April 17 workshop, titled Artists and Entertainment Buyers: Getting Yourself Booked, will also be podcast shortly.
The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is currently working to create a Summer 2007 workshop at a major area film venue about getting music into independent films. Details will be announced soon.

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island's musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization, which defines Long Island geographically rather than politically, as Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties, was created as a place to inspire in each person the desire to explore and celebrate music in all its forms and to be a place where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aid them in that exploration. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame sponsors the Long Island Sound Award, traveling educational exhibits and is working to create a permanent home for the story of the Island's musical heritage.
