LONG ISLAND MUSIC HALL OF FAME AWARDS 2008 MUSIC EDUCATOR OF NOTE TO JOHN MCNEUR
Award Will Be Presented at 2nd Induction Gala on October 30 at the Garden City Hotel
(Long Island, NY) The Long Island Music Hall of Fame 2008 Music Educator of Note Award goes to John McNeur, a leading music teacher, conductor, organizer, consultant and clinician. The award will be presented at LIMHoF's Second Induction Award Ceremony and Fundraising Gala will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 7 PM at the Garden City Hotel, 45 Seventh Street in Garden City, New York.
John McNeur is a career educator who has taught all aspects of music over the past twenty five years. He is currently Director of Music for the GRAMMY Signature Gold School Award-winning Herricks Public Schools, national chair for the Tri-M Music Honor Society, past-president of the Nassau Music Educators Association, and chair of the committee responsible for organizing The Balanced Mind Curriculum Conferences. He is an active consultant, clinician and conductor and lives in Glen Head. He also is founder and Executive Director of the Glen Head-based Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Academy. LIMHoF will also present the 2007 Music Educator of Note Award to Herbert A. Deutsch, Professor Emeritus of Hofstra University and a leading music pioneer, teacher, composer and mentor for more than 40 years.

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) is a 501(c)(3) museum and membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island's musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization defines Long Island geographically as Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. The Hall of Fame sponsors the Long Island Sound Award (LISA), traveling educational exhibits and a scholarship program.
