| Long Island Music Hall of Fame Partners With Rock And Wrap It Up - Unused Food From October 30 Induction Ceremony To Be Donated To Area Soup Kitchens
(Long Island, NY) - The Long Island Music Hall of Fame will join forces with students from the H. Frank Carey High School’s Rock and Wrap it Up Club, advised by Terry Rolla, to help stamp out hunger on Long Island. Unused food from the Second Induction Ceremony and Gala will be wrapped up and donated to area soup kitchens. The gala will take place at the Garden City Hotel on October 30.
Rock And Wrap It Up (http://www.rockandwrapitup.org/) was founded in 1994 by Syd Mandelbaum. The organization originally teamed with recording artists like Jewel and Dave Matthews Band to make use of all of the food wasted when an artist is on tour. Since then, Rock And Wrap It Up has expanded - working with movie studios, schools, and even the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Rock and Wrap It Up takes the left-over catered food, wraps it up and transports it to soup kitchens in the area.
"The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is proud to collaborate with this great cause,” said Tom Needham, Vice Chairman of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. “Working in conjunction with students from the H. Frank Carey High School will make this endeavor even more rewarding.”
The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) is a 501(c)(3) museum and membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island's musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations.
