I’m Whitney Hackman. I’m a junior at North Shore High School in Glen Head. I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like without music. I live and breathe for it! Any musical opportunity I can get, I take! In school, I sing in the women’s chorus, chorale, glee club, and the Madrigal Singers. I also play violin in the orchestra and act and sing in the theatre productions. Outside of school, I play piano and sing in the Youth Chorale at the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. Most recently, I sang in the All State Women’s Choir and it was an amazing experience!
Getting the opportunity to perform great music with outstanding musicians and teachers both in and out of school has made me so thankful to have music in my life. It’s what gets me through the day! I love the idea that people can come together through music at any given moment. Thanks to the amazing teachers I’ve worked with at my high school and at MYO, I would love to pursue a career involving music education. I hope to one day inspire a love of music in students, the way I’ve been inspired by the wonderful musical experiences I’ve had!
