Music Executive Dennis Arfa Inducted by Billy Joel into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame
Induction part of 2-day Billy Joel Symposium Event
STONY BROOK, NY — Music Executive Dennis Arfa, Billy Joel’s longtime booking agent and chairman of the Music Division at Independent Artist Group, was recently inducted into the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) by LIMEHOF Inductee Billy Joel himself at a special ceremony at their Stony Brook Village location (97 Main Street). The induction was part of the 2-day ‘Billy Joel Symposium’.
“My life in show business originated on Long Island and it has always been my home,” Arfa said. “Thank you to the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame for this hometown honor.”
Dennis Arfa has worked with Billy Joel, Rodney Dangerfield, The Beach Boys, Ted Nugent, Metallica, Rod Stewart, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Rush, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, Andrew Dice Clay, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Meat Loaf, YES, Blondie, Bad Company, Duran Duran, Debbie Gibson, Joan Jett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, Linkin Park, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Queensryche and Richard Marx.
Speaking at the podium, Billy Joel praised Arfa, who has been his booking agent for fifty years, saying that Arfa saw possibilities in him and all of his clients and has rare qualities that helped him defy the conventional wisdom in the music industry.
“He’s got an encyclopedic memory and the ability to execute a large strategy and focus on the details,” Joel said. “This is a rare skill in this business and that’s why so many people wanted to work with him; Rod Stewart, Metallica, Rodney Dangerfield, Andrew Dice Clay, Deaf Leopard… they saw what I saw; passion, integrity, instinct and results. Dennis didn’t just have ideas; he had the nerve to follow through on them. He broke the mold and he helped shift the industry.”
LIMEHOF’s mission is to celebrate the musical and entertainment talent that came from Long Island and includes musicians as well as music executives. Arfa is a major respected figure in the music industry and this year marks the 50th year since he started his career.

Currently, Arfa serves as the Chairman of the Music Division at Independent Artist Group (IAG), an agency he was instrumental in creating in the summer of 2023. IAG has a diverse roster representing such superstar acts as Sleep Token, Ghost, Neil Young, The Strokes, Cage the Elephant, Pantera, Falling in Reverse, The Smashing Pumpkins, five finger death Punch, Three days Grace, Poison and Elvis Costello.
The Billy Joel Symposium was a two-day conference devoted to the music, lyrics, themes, and cultural impact of Billy Joel. This symposium featured over 20 speakers from 11 states including scholars, critics, musicians, and students who engaged in critical analysis of Joel’s artistry, life, and legacy.
